dublin literary experience

Day one:
Begin your literary experience with a visit to Dublin Writers Museum - Dublin's literary celebrities from the past three hundred years are brought to life through their books, letters, portraits and personal items.

Walk down O'Connell Street to view The Spire - Europe's tallest monument. Also check out the bullet holes in the columns at the General Post Office from the Easter Rising in 1916.  Cross O'Connell Bridge and head to Trinity College - the oldest university in Ireland and home to the famous 'Book of Kells' written around the year 800 AD.

That evening embark on a Literary Pub Crawl led by professional musicians who perform tunes and songs while visiting famous pubs in and around Temple Bar.

Day two:
Visit Dublinia - an award-winning exhibition that recreates the sights and sounds of this medieval city offering a fascinating glimpse of Dublin 800 years ago.  Then head to the James Joyce Centre and discover the life and works of this great literary figure.  

After lunch visit the The National Gallery of Ireland home to the national collection of Irish art and European master paintings. 

Evening meal in Temple Bar with the rest of the evening free to explore this vibrant district.

Day three:
Morning at leisure - visit Christchurch Cathedral - one of Dublin's oldest and most recognised landmarks or take a tour of The Guinness Storehouse or if you are in need of some retail therapy head to Grafton Street. 

That afternoon take a 'Celtic Experience' tour and visit the Hill of Tara and it's prehistoric tombs and underground passages and graves, built more than 5,000 years ago. 

That evening enjoy a performance of Irish music, song and dance at one of the many fine establishments in town.
