The exhibitions reveal fascinating glimpses of the Viking and medieval past. Almost everyone that stays at Kinlay House makes it to the Guinness Storehouse. Kilmainham Gaol was founded in 1796 and throughout it's history it has housed many of Ireland's "infamous rebels" including the leaders of the 1916 rising. Self-guided tours are available daily and more recently, opera is being staged due to the great acoustics offered. On display is beautiful period furniture together with an extensive collection of Irish portrait paintings. This museum houses over 2,000,000 artefacts which range in date between 7000BC and the late medieval period. Also home to approximately ten thousand animals which are drawn from over two million specimens. Official SitePhoenix ParkThe largest urban enclosed park in Europe, Phoenix Park features ornamental gardens, nature trails and broad expanses of grassland. Deer roam the forested areas and Dublin Zoo can also be found there as well. MapSmithfieldPedestrianised cobbled plaza with bars, restaurants and shops. The main attraction is the 175ft viewing tower (formally the old chimney of the Jameson Distillery) offering panoramic views of the city. A ten minute walk from the hostel. MapKinlay House is situated five minutes from St. Patrick’s Cathedral – Dublin’s largest Cathedral where it is said St. Patrick baptised converts to the Christian faith. The campus features buildings from the 17th to 20th century, cobbled squares, gardens and parks. Also home to the famous 'Book of Kells' written around the year 800 AD.
